Is 0% Mattress Financing Actually Worth It?

Signature mattress in a styled bedroom

"0% financing" is one of those phrases your brain has learned to distrust, and fair enough — in a lot of industries it hides deferred interest, inflated sticker prices, or a rate that detonates in month thirteen. So when you see it on a mattress, the reasonable question is: what's the catch?

Here is exactly how our financing works, with the actual numbers, the actual fee, and an honest answer about when it makes sense — and when paying cash is smarter.

The whole deal, in one paragraph

Through Flexiti, on approved credit, you can split your purchase into 12 monthly payments at 0% interest, with a one-time $90 administration fee. That $90 is the cost of borrowing — there is no interest. Full terms are on our financing page.

The plain-language version: the $90 fee is effectively the price of spreading your payments over a year.

The math on a real mattress

Take the Signature — $2,199 for a Queen at sale pricing.

• Mattress: $2,199
• One-time admin fee: $90
• Total: $2,289
• Over 12 payments: about $191 a month, before tax

That is the whole calculation. Twelve payments of roughly $191 and you are done.

Is $90 free? No, and we will not pretend it is. On a $2,199 purchase it works out to about 4% — a real cost, worth weighing like any other. But it is a fixed, visible number you know on day one, which puts it in a different universe from a credit card carrying that same $2,199 at a typical double-digit interest rate for a year.

When financing genuinely makes sense

Your mattress died before your budget was ready. Mattresses rarely fail on schedule. If your back is losing the fight now, $191 a month starting today beats 120 more nights on a broken bed while you save up. The Sleep Foundation is blunt about what ongoing sleep deprivation does to mood, focus, and health — months of bad nights are a real cost, even if they never show up on a bill.
The right mattress is one tier up from your cash. If the fitting process says your body needs the $2,199 mattress and your chequing account says $1,399, financing closes that gap without settling for the wrong bed — and without draining the account.
You want to keep your cash buffer intact. Plenty of people can pay outright but would rather not swallow a four-figure hit in one month. Predictable payments, known total, emergency fund untouched.

When you should just pay cash

Honesty cuts both ways, so:

If the $90 bothers you and the cash is sitting there — pay cash. $90 saved. For a smaller purchase like a $599 or $999 Queen, the fee is a bigger slice of the total and the case for financing gets thinner.
If your budget is already tight month to month — a payment obligation on top of tight is stress, not convenience. A great mattress you are anxious about paying for defeats its own purpose.
If you are financing to overbuy — the monthly framing can make a $3,799 mattress feel abstract. Finance the mattress your body needs, not the biggest one the payment math can disguise.

Financing is a cash-flow tool, not a discount and not a trap. Used for the right reasons, it moves a purchase from "someday" to "tonight" for $90. Used to stretch past what you can afford, it is the same mistake at any interest rate.

How to actually do it

The application runs through Flexiti in store at any of our locations, whether that is Regina, Moose Jaw, or Saskatoon. Approval is on approved credit, so terms depend on your application. Full details are on our financing page.

One planning note: delivery does not wait for your last payment. Free local front-door delivery within city limits, $59 with setup, or $99 VIP with setup and old-mattress removal within 100 km — the mattress shows up now either way; only the paying is spread out.
