Split king is TWO full adjustable beds side by side. Split top is ONE mattress with a splitting head. Split king = total independence in firmness and angle. Split top = lighter, cheaper.

Yes. That's the point. Each side is its own full mattress. You can have Medium while your partner has Plush.
Will a split king fit in our existing king frame?
