Best Mattress Store in Regina: A Local Guide (2026)

Modern Mattress Sleep Team Apr 29, 2026 13 min read
Modern Mattress Regina showroom on Prince of Wales Drive — Saskatchewan-owned mattress store

It's 3:14 a.m.

The duvet is on the floor. Your partner just rolled over and dragged half the sheets with them. You're sore in the same spot you've been sore in for two winters running. You've already been on Sleep Country's site. You've already googled "best mattress store in Regina" and scrolled past three directory pages that look exactly the same.

What you actually want is for someone to stop selling and start fixing.

If that's you, this guide will save you a Saturday. We'll show you what's in Regina, where the differences matter, and what we'd suggest you do.

What actually happens when you walk in

Modern Mattress sleep consultant guiding a customer through the Discovery Experience pressure-mapping session in our Saskatchewan showroom
A Discovery Experience session in our showroom — your pressure points and the comfort we recommend, printed and yours to take home.

Walk in to either Regina store and you spend the first few minutes telling us what's wrong. Not what mattress you think you want. What hurts. What's hot. Who snores. Who's been on the couch.

Modern Mattress Discovery Experience — real-time pressure mapping showing exact pressure on hips and shoulders

Then both of you lie down on our Discovery Stage and we run real-time pressure mapping — a heat map that shows the exact pressure your hips and shoulders are putting on the mattress. You see the map. We talk through what it means. You try a different mattress, the map changes, and the right fit becomes obvious because your own body tells you.

At the end of the visit, we print your Discovery report — your pressure points and the comfort we recommend — so you walk out with the data, not just our recommendation.

Free, 30 minutes, no appointment, no pressure, no pitch. It's called the Discovery Experience and it's how the company is built.

The Regina mattress market

Regina has more national-chain mattress retailers per capita than most prairie cities its size. At least one of them has put a store within a block of ours on both Prince of Wales Drive and Rochdale Boulevard. We're glad to be in that comparison — comparison is the whole point of this guide.

Modern Mattress has been Saskatchewan-owned since 2014. We have two Regina stores: the Prince of Wales location on the south end, and the Rochdale Outlet on the northwest. Four more across the province (Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Yorkton) make us the only mattress specialist with that kind of footprint. Below: the comparison, then how we'd approach it.

How to actually compare mattress stores in Regina

Before any specific recommendation, ask any store you visit these five questions. The answers tell you everything.

  1. Will you let me lie on the mattress for at least 15 minutes? A real fitting takes time. If the staff is hovering, they're trained to close, not to fit.
  2. Where is this mattress made? Ask any retailer to be specific. "Designed in Canada" is not the same as "Made in Canada." If it's imported, you're paying shipping and brand markup. Every Modern Mattress is made in Canada — we don't import a single one.
  3. What's your trial period and what does the return cost? Anything under 100 nights is short. Watch for restocking fees.
  4. Do you deliver yourselves, or do you contract it out? Third-party freight handlers don't unwrap, set up, or haul away the old one.
  5. Who answers the phone if there's a warranty issue 4 years from now? A local store with a real owner is a different experience than a 1-800 line.

Now — the comparison.

The Discovery Stage at Modern Mattress — real-time pressure mapping during a Discovery Experience

A few things this table will not tell you that matter just as much:

Sleep Country and Modern Mattress have stores within walking distance of each other in Regina. Their Rochdale store at 4401 Rochdale Boulevard is across the street from our Rochdale Outlet at 4123 Rochdale Boulevard. Their Prince of Wales store at 1920 Prince of Wales Drive is roughly a block from our store at 2030 Prince of Wales Drive. We're glad to be in the comparison — but if you're already on Rochdale or Prince of Wales, it's worth crossing the street and seeing both.

The Brick, Surplus, and Ashley are furniture stores first. They sell mattresses because mattresses sell, but mattresses are one section of a much bigger store. If your priority is the mattress itself, you'll usually find more depth at a dedicated mattress specialist.

Costco is a great warehouse store. It's a different shopping experience for mattresses. No fitting, no consultation, no setup, and a king-size mattress return is on you to handle yourself.

Online "mattress in a box" — Endy, Casper, Douglas, Polysleep. Convenient. They ship a compressed box to your door. The trade-off: you can't try them in Regina before you commit, returns mean repacking and pickup scheduling, and there's no setup or old-mattress haul-away. Pricing is generally in the same range as our Canadian-made hybrids — but you trade the in-store fitting and the local relationship for a cardboard box on your front step.

Regina also has several other local mattress and furniture shops worth a visit if you have a specific niche need — for instance, custom-built mattresses for non-standard frames, or a budget-only filter. The choice between Modern Mattress and a niche specialist usually comes down to whether you want a Canadian-made, multi-store-backed buying experience or a single-store specialty fit.

Something worth knowing about Sleep Country

When you're comparing mattress shops in Regina, it's worth knowing how much of the market one company owns.

Sleep Country Canada owns most of the "independent" Canadian online mattress brands. Per public reporting (CBC News, Strategy, the BBB, and Wikipedia), Sleep Country has acquired or built the following over the past several years: Endy (acquired 2018, ~$89M), Casper's Canadian operations (acquired 2023, ~$20.6M USD), Hush (acquired 2021), Silk & Snow, Bloom (built in-house, 2017), Dormez-vous (Quebec banner), and the Canadian rights to Bed Bath & Beyond (2025). Sleep Country itself was acquired by Fairfax Financial Holdings in October 2024 for roughly $1.7 billion.

What that means for a Regina shopper: when you walk into a Sleep Country and compare a Sealy, an Endy, a Hush topper, and a Casper, you're not actually comparison-shopping — you're choosing between products owned by the same company.

Customer service track record (please verify yourself before deciding). As of the time of this writing, the Better Business Bureau lists Sleep Country Canada (Brampton, ON head-office profile) with a customer rating of approximately 1.32 out of 5 stars, and the business is not BBB-accredited; recurring BBB complaints flag warranty disputes and post-purchase service. Trustpilot's overall rating for sleepcountry.ca falls in the "Poor" range as of the same period. These ratings change over time — we'd encourage you to check the current BBB and Trustpilot pages directly before making a purchase. (Sources: BBB profile, CBC News on Casper acquisition, Wikipedia.)

For context, Modern Mattress is Saskatchewan-owned, founded here in 2014, with a customer rating of 4.9 stars from over 1,700 Saskatchewan customers. When you buy from us, the company you bought from is the company that warranties, services, and stands behind it.

A note on evaluating "sale" pricing — at any retailer

When you're shopping during a "sale," it's worth asking the retailer what the regular price actually was, and for how long. As of November 2024, the Government of Canada's Competition Bureau is publicly investigating Leon's Furniture Ltd. and The Brick over allegedly inflated "regular prices" used in savings claims — citing one example where a product was at a "promotional price for 169 days but never at a regular price" over six months (Government of Canada, Nov 2024; CBC News). The Bureau notes there is no conclusion of wrongdoing at this time. The buyer's takeaway, for any store: ask to see the price history before you accept that something is "70% off." When Modern Mattress runs a sale, you can see exactly what the regular price has been and for how long — no inflated benchmarks, no fine print.

A common Regina shopper situation

A pattern we see often in Regina: a couple, one of whom works shift work — SaskPower, healthcare, RCMP, refinery — the other usually a desk job downtown. They've been waking up sore for a while, often longer than they care to admit. One of them started feeling it around a life change: kids moving out, a renovation, a stretch of cold winter nights.

They come in "just to look." Once both of them are actually on a mattress with a sleep specialist watching what their body does, the real issue often turns out to be one of these:

  • The mattress is fine; the pillow has been wrong for years.
  • The mattress is wrong; they thought they needed firmer when they actually needed a medium hybrid.
  • The mattress is okay but they need an adjustable base because one of them snores or has reflux they've been quietly putting up with.

The Discovery Experience is built to figure out which of those it is for you.

What makes Modern Mattress different in Regina

There are cheaper places to buy a mattress in Regina. There are bigger ones too. What we'd ask you to judge us on is whether the bed you leave with actually fixes the problem you came in with — and whether the company that sold it to you is still the company that warranties it five years from now.

Saskatchewan-owned since 2014, six stores, four cities. We are the only mattress specialist with stores in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Yorkton. That means we see what works for prairie sleepers across the whole province — old Regina bungalow without central AC, new Saskatoon condo, farmhouse outside Yorkton — and our recommendations reflect that.

Two Saskatchewan-designed, Canadian-made lines. We simplify the choice. We carry two private-label lines, both Saskatchewan companies: Modern Mattress (Saskatchewan-owned since 2014) and LOTUS Sleep Products (Saskatoon-founded, 2018). Both are designed in Saskatchewan. Both are designed in Saskatchewan and made in Canada — including the specialty foams, pocket coils, and fabrics inside the mattresses. We don't import.

Walk into a big-box retailer and you'll see thirty-plus brands, conflicting marketing, different warranties, different return policies, and a sales associate who can't possibly know all of them. Eight collections, $449 to $4,299, every one with a clear purpose. That's what we sell.

The Discovery Experience. A free, no-pressure, 30-minute in-store consultation built on real-time pressure mapping — a heat map that shows the exact pressure on your hips and shoulders on each mattress you try. You leave with your printed Discovery report — your pressure points and the comfort we recommend, yours to take home. No appointment, no pitch.

The risk-removal stack. 100-Night Sleep Guarantee. 10-year warranty. 0% financing for 12 months through Flexiti. Free local front-door delivery by our own Dream Team — not a third-party freight handler. $59 in-room setup. $99 VIP service includes haul-away of your old mattress.

4.9 stars from more than 1,700 Saskatchewan customers. That's not a national average — that's our neighbours.

A note worth reading: most people don't actually need a new mattress. They need a new sleep system.

Most people walk into a mattress store shopping for a mattress. The customers who actually solve their sleep walk out with a complete sleep system — mattress, matched adjustable base, the right pillow, and a real protector — chosen together so they work together.

If you've been ignoring adjustable bases because they sound like a "nice-to-have" or an upsell, here's what they actually do: they're a real medical-grade lever for snoring, acid reflux, lower-back pain, restless legs, and circulation. Elevating the head of the bed even slightly can be the difference between a partner who snores all night and a partner who doesn't. Two-sided split-king bases let one of you elevate without disturbing the other — which is often the real fix for couples where only one of you has the issue.

We carry our Essential, Plus, and Pro adjustable bases at every Regina store. The Discovery Experience walks both partners through whether one is right for you, and we'll show you what the same mattress feels like flat versus elevated so you can decide based on your body, not a brochure.

On spending more, once

If this is your second or third mattress in ten years, the bargain mattress already cost you twice. Here's the math we're not afraid to do out loud: a $700 mattress that doesn't fit you, replaced after four years, costs more than an $1,800 mattress that lasts ten and fixes the problem. The mid-tier customer who walks in here usually isn't trying to spend the most or the least — they're trying to spend it once and stop the cycle. That's the spend we're built to help you make.

Frequently asked questions about buying a mattress in Regina

What's the best mattress store in Regina for back pain?

For back pain, you want a store that tests your sleep position and pressure points, not one that sells you off a price tag. Modern Mattress's Discovery Experience profiles your sleep style and helps you find the right firmness for your body. Published research generally supports medium-firm mattresses for non-specific lower-back pain — that's the firmness zone our Classic and Hybrid Luxe sit in.

Where can I try a mattress before buying in Regina?

Modern Mattress at 2030 Prince of Wales Drive and 4123 Rochdale Boulevard, Sleep Country Canada (four locations), The Brick, Surplus Furniture, and Ashley HomeStore all have Regina showrooms with display models. Online mattress-in-a-box brands like Endy, Casper, Douglas, and Polysleep do not have local showrooms — you can't try them in Regina before buying.

Is it cheaper to buy a mattress in Regina or online?

For an equivalent-quality mattress, in-store is usually equal or cheaper once you account for delivery, setup, returns, and warranty support. Modern Mattress's Canadian-made lineup starts at $449 with free local delivery and a 100-night sleep guarantee — most online brands charge separately for delivery beyond your doorstep.

Do mattress stores in Regina offer financing?

Yes. Modern Mattress offers 0% financing for 12 months through Flexiti on approved credit. Sleep Country, The Brick, and Ashley HomeStore also offer financing programs, though terms and minimums differ — always read the deferred-interest fine print.

How long should a mattress last?

A quality mattress should last 7–10 years. If you're waking up sore, sleeping hot, or noticing dips and sags, your mattress is past its useful life. Modern Mattress backs every mattress with a 10-year warranty — the warranty term itself is a useful proxy for what the manufacturer expects.

What's the difference between a "mattress in a box" and an in-store mattress?

A mattress in a box is compressed and shipped via courier. The convenience trade-off is no fitting, no setup, and you're stuck with whatever it is once you cut it open. In-store gives you 15+ minutes of testing, a fit consultation, free local delivery and setup, and a clear return path.

Does Modern Mattress price match in Regina?

We don't run a flashy price-match marketing campaign. We price our Canadian-made lineup straight, so we don't have to. If you find a comparable Canadian-made mattress at a verified competitor in Regina for less, bring us the quote and we'll talk.
