Where to Buy a Mattress in Moose Jaw: A Buyer's Guide (2026)

Modern Mattress Moose Jaw storefront on McKenzie Lane — Saskatchewan-owned mattress store

You've thought about driving to Regina

Saturday morning, 45 minutes up Highway 1, four mattress stores in 90 minutes, and you came home unsure which of the three you sat on was actually the right call. Or you haven't driven yet, but it's on the list. Right under "fix the sleep we keep losing."

You can stop thinking about that drive.

We're Modern Mattress at 27B McKenzie Lane. Saskatchewan-owned since 2014. We carry the same eight Canadian-made collections here that we carry at our two Regina stores. Same Discovery Experience. Consistent pricing across all six stores. Free local delivery. If you still want to compare what's in town and on the way, here's the lay of the land.

What actually happens when you walk in

Modern Mattress sleep consultant guiding a customer through the Discovery Experience pressure-mapping session in our Saskatchewan showroom
A Discovery Experience session in our showroom — your pressure points and the comfort we recommend, printed and yours to take home.

McKenzie Lane is a smaller showroom than our Regina stores. That's an advantage when you walk in. Fewer people coming through means our specialist isn't juggling three other couples in the next hour. They've got time.

Modern Mattress Discovery Experience — real-time pressure mapping in-store

You sit down first. Tell us what's wrong at night. Then both of you lie down on our Discovery Stage and we run real-time pressure mapping — a heat map that shows exactly where your hips and shoulders are taking pressure on the mattress. You see it on screen. We talk through what we're seeing. You try another mattress; the map changes; the right fit becomes obvious.

You leave with your printed Discovery report — your pressure points and the comfort we recommend, yours to take home.

Free, 30 minutes, no appointment, no pitch. We call it the Discovery Experience.

The five questions that matter when buying a mattress in Moose Jaw

  1. Will you let me lie on the mattress for at least 15 minutes in my normal sleep position? That's the only way to actually feel a mattress.
  2. Where is this mattress made — specifically? "Designed in Canada" and "Made in Canada" are not the same. Ask any retailer to name the factory. Every Modern Mattress is made in Canada — we don't import a single one.
  3. What's the trial period and what does the return cost? Anything less than 100 nights is short.
  4. Do you deliver yourselves or contract it out? Third-party freight handlers leave a 90-pound box at the door.
  5. If something goes wrong in five years, who picks up the phone? A Saskatchewan owner or a national 1-800 line — those are different experiences.

The Discovery Stage at Modern Mattress — pressure mapping technology used for fitting customers

A few things worth saying plainly:

The Brick is a furniture store with a mattress section. If you're already buying a couch and a dining set, the convenience is real. If mattresses are your focus, you'll get more depth at a specialist.

Surplus Furniture isn't a sleep specialist either. Same trade-off as The Brick.

Sleep Country has no Moose Jaw storefront. Buying from Sleep Country means a 40+ minute drive to one of their four Regina stores or shopping online. You also won't get a Saskatchewan owner answering the phone if there's a problem 4 years from now. Worth knowing: Sleep Country Canada also owns Endy (acquired 2018), Casper's Canadian operations (acquired 2023), Hush, Silk & Snow, Bloom, and Dormez-vous; Sleep Country itself was acquired by Fairfax Financial Holdings in October 2024 (sources: CBC News, Wikipedia). And as of the time of writing, the Better Business Bureau lists the Sleep Country Canada head-office profile with a customer rating of roughly 1.32/5 stars and the business is not BBB-accredited; check the current BBB profile yourself before deciding.

Costco is also a Regina-only option for Moose Jaw shoppers. The nearest Costco warehouse is on Anaquod Road in Regina, roughly a 40-minute drive each way. There's no fitting, no consultation, no setup, and a king-size mattress return means strapping it back into a vehicle and driving it back to Regina. For most Moose Jaw shoppers, the trip out and back doesn't earn its keep against a local specialist with a fitting and free delivery.

Online "mattress in a box" — Endy, Casper, Douglas, Polysleep. Convenient. They ship a compressed box to your door. The trade-off: you can't try them in Moose Jaw before you commit, returns mean repacking and pickup scheduling, and there's no setup or old-mattress haul-away. Pricing is generally in the same range as our Canadian-made hybrids — but you trade the in-store fitting and the local relationship for a cardboard box on your front step. Note: Endy and Casper Canada are both owned by Sleep Country Canada. Douglas (made in Alberta) and Polysleep (made in Montreal) are independent Canadian brands.

Moose Jaw also has several local family-owned furniture stores that sell mattresses as part of a broader furniture mix. They're worth a visit if you're shopping for furniture and a mattress at the same time. If your priority is the mattress itself, Modern Mattress is the city's only dedicated mattress specialist with a Canadian-made private-label lineup and a multi-city footprint.

The Moose Jaw customer we see most often

A couple in their 50s or 60s. One of you is retired or partly retired; the other is still commuting to Regina, still working at the refinery, still farming, or still running a small business in town. The mattress at home has lasted longer than it should have. You want one good purchase that lasts a long time.

Moose Jaw customers tend to know what they want. You come in, both of you lie on a few mattresses, our specialist watches what your body does, you ask the question you came to ask, you decide. We deliver typically within 1–3 business days on in-stock models.

There's a snowbird version of the same pattern: the trailer needs a new mattress for winters down south, and the bed at home needs replacing too. We carry RV-sized mattresses in stock and the same delivery team that does the house can do the trailer.

What makes Modern Mattress different in Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw has heritage furniture businesses that have been here for decades, and we respect them. There's always somewhere cheaper. What we offer is something different: a focused mattress specialist with two Saskatchewan-designed Canadian-made lines, six stores across four cities behind your warranty, and a fitting process built specifically for figuring out why you're not sleeping well.

Saskatchewan-owned, six stores, four cities. Stores in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Yorkton. The benefit to a Moose Jaw shopper: we have province-wide knowledge of what Saskatchewan sleepers actually need — and our Moose Jaw store carries the same full lineup as our Regina and Saskatoon stores. No more "I should drive to Regina."

Two Saskatchewan-designed, Canadian-made lines. Modern Mattress (Saskatchewan-owned, 2014) and LOTUS Sleep Products (Saskatoon-founded, 2018). Both lines are designed here. Both are designed in Saskatchewan and made in Canada. The specialty foams, pocket coils, and fabrics are made in the same factories. We don't import.

Big-box retailers stock thirty-plus brands with conflicting marketing and warranties. We carry eight collections, $449 to $4,299, each with a clear purpose. That's the whole catalogue, and the staff at McKenzie Lane knows every one of them.

The Discovery Experience. Free, no pressure, 30 minutes. Real-time pressure mapping on our Discovery Stage shows the exact pressure on your hips and shoulders on each mattress you try. You leave with your printed Discovery report — your pressure points and the comfort we recommend, yours to take home. No appointment, no pitch.

The risk-removal stack. 100-Night Sleep Guarantee. 10-year warranty. 0% financing for 12 months through Flexiti. Free local front-door delivery in Moose Jaw and surrounding area by our own Dream Team. $59 in-room setup. $99 VIP service includes haul-away of your old mattress.

4.9 stars from more than 1,700 Saskatchewan customers. Your neighbours, not a national average.

A note worth reading: most people don't actually need a new mattress. They need a new sleep system.

Most people walk into a mattress store shopping for a mattress. The customers who actually solve their sleep walk out with a complete sleep system — mattress, matched adjustable base, the right pillow, and a real protector — chosen together so they work together.

If you've been ignoring adjustable bases because they sound like a "nice-to-have" or an upsell, here's what they actually do: they're a real medical-grade lever for snoring, acid reflux, lower-back pain, restless legs, and circulation. Elevating the head of the bed even slightly can be the difference between a partner who snores all night and a partner who doesn't. Split-king bases let one of you elevate without disturbing the other — often the real fix for couples where only one of you has the issue.

We carry our Essential, Plus, and Pro adjustable bases at the Moose Jaw store. The Discovery Experience walks both partners through whether one is right for you.

On spending more, once

If this is your second or third mattress in ten years, the bargain mattress already cost you twice. The math: a $700 mattress that doesn't fit you, replaced after four years, costs more than an $1,800 mattress that lasts ten and fixes the problem. The customer who walks into our Moose Jaw store usually isn't trying to spend the most or the least — they're trying to spend it once and stop the cycle. That's the spend we're built to help you make.

Frequently asked questions about buying a mattress in Moose Jaw

Where is a good place to buy a mattress in Moose Jaw?

Modern Mattress on McKenzie Lane is the city's only dedicated mattress specialist — Saskatchewan-owned since 2014, Canadian-made lineup, free Discovery Experience, 100-night sleep guarantee, free local delivery, and 0% financing for 12 months on approved credit. The Brick and Surplus Furniture also have Moose Jaw stores with more general furniture-and-mattress mixes. Sleep Country and Costco have no Moose Jaw locations — those are 40+ minutes away in Regina, or online.

Is it worth driving from Moose Jaw to Regina to shop for a mattress?

Almost never. Modern Mattress's Moose Jaw store carries the same Canadian-made collections and the same Discovery Experience as our two Regina locations, with consistent pricing and any active promotions honoured across all six stores. You save the drive, the gas, and the parking, and you get free local delivery either way.

Does Modern Mattress in Moose Jaw deliver to surrounding towns?

Yes. We deliver across Moose Jaw and to surrounding communities — Caronport, Briercrest, Mortlach, Bethune, Avonlea, Buffalo Pound area, and points along Highway 1. Free front-door delivery within Moose Jaw city limits. Free in-store pickup at our McKenzie Lane store. Out-of-town rates are based on distance.

What's the best mattress for back pain?

For most people, a medium-firm mattress — somewhere between a 5 and a 7 on the firmness scale — produces the best outcomes for non-specific lower-back pain. Modern Mattress's Classic and Hybrid Luxe sit in that range. We'll fit you in store rather than guessing.

Do mattress stores in Moose Jaw offer financing?

Yes. Modern Mattress offers 0% financing for 12 months through Flexiti on approved credit. The Brick and Surplus also offer financing, with terms that vary — read the deferred-interest fine print.

How long should a mattress last?

A quality mattress should last 7 to 10 years. If you're waking up sore, sleeping hot, or noticing dips and sags, your mattress is past its useful life.

What's the best time of year to buy a mattress in Moose Jaw?

Boxing Day and Black Friday will get you the deepest national-brand discounts. The catch: those are also the most picked-over inventory weeks. Modern Mattress runs Saskatchewan-owned promotions year-round — and our Canadian-made baseline pricing is usually within a few percent of competitors' "sale" pricing without the timing pressure.
